I stumbled onto this by reading some of the comments above regarding PsScriptAnalyzer and decided to try removing and re-installing the module from PowerShell terminal. And wouldn't you know it, automatic formatting of my Powershell scripts is now working. I found that once I installed the latest version of this framework and restarted my VM, Visual Studio Code was finally sending me suggestions to deal with newly found problems in the bottom pane. If your version requires updating, head to this link to download the update. To check this, go into PoSH (OUTSIDE of VS Code, do this with your baked-in Windows Powershell IDE) and type 'HOST' into the terminal and hit enter. If you're on anything lower than 5.1, you need to install the Windows Management Framework 5.1.

Check your Windows Management Framework version. I think I may have solved my problem with this issue, at least. So I may have noticed the issue initially as my inability to format powershell scripts, but it seems the problem may specifically be with PSScriptAnalyzer? Has anyone reached out to look into this?

If I were to write a script with unused variables which the Analyzer should most definitely catch and suggest I remove, I don't currently get any tooltips/notifications from PSScriptAnalyzer regarding this. Have you noticed that the PSScriptAnalyzer is also not listing any potential problems in your bottom pane? That's one symptom of the problem that I'm seeing. I'm upvoting this issue and posting in hopes it finally gets resolved.
